Galactic Gas Explorer
From reconstructions of gaseous atomic and molecular Hydrogen (corresponding publication) in the Milky Way, I have created an interactive, 3D visualisation that everyone can access in the browser.

IFT@Schneefernerhaus 2025
I travelled to the Schneefernerhaus environmental research station on the summit of the Zugspitze. Besides many discussions on various IFT-related projects, I gave a (very short) talk on Galactic tomography and an impromptu presentation and demonstration on Gaussian processes via ICR (arXiv:2206.10634) within NIFTy. Title: Galactic Tomography Authors: Laurin Söding When: 20th of January 2025…

Guest Talk Vienna 2024
I travelled to Vienna to give a presentation about gas reconstructions, based mainly on arXiv:2407.02859. I gave a comprehensive overview of the main ideas, methods and results of recent 3D tomographic reconstructions of Galactic (neutral and molecular) Hydrogen. Title: Spatially Coherent 3D Distributions of HI and CO in the Milky Way Authors: Laurin Söding When:…

Published Paper: New 3D Maps of Hydrogen in the Milky Way
I am the first author of a paper, in which we reconstruct 3D maps of interstellar Hydrogen (atomic Hydrogen via the 21 cm emission line and molecular Hydrogen traced via line-emission of CO), the interstellar velocity field, and the line-widths of the respective emission lines. Here, you can find supplementary material, including interactive 3D renderings…
