GaGaDiCT Meeting 2023

We had a great first meeting to start off the “Galactic Gas Distribution and Cosmic-Ray Transport (GaGaDiCT)” project. It is a collaboration between groups from The Munich, Innsbruck and Aachen with the ambitious goal of reconstructing the 3-dimensional distribution of gases, cosmic rays, and cosmic ray sources in the Galaxy. We will employ “Variational Inference” methods orginating from the framework of “Information Field Theory” to obtain not a maximum-likelihood fit, but a set of statistically representative samples of our quantities of interest. These implicitly contain the uncertainties and correlations between the billions of parameters of our reconstruction.

Since this is a kickoff-meeting, results will follow in due time 🙂
